MCC China opens its 42nd store in Hangzhou

Hangzhou, December 9, 2009 – METRO Cash & Carry, the international leader in self-service wholesale, opened its 42nd wholesale center today in the city of Hangzhou. It is the 2nd MCC store in the capital city of Zhejiang Province abutting Shanghai. Thus the company has successfully opened 4 stores this year which effectively indicates its long-term commitment to the Chinese market.

“The opening of Hangzhou Jinjiadu wholesale store once again reflects our strong commitment to China, a strategic market for METRO Cash & Carry”, said Tino Zeiske, President of MCC China. “Our investment and expansion will continue in the coming years to bring the unique B2B business concept to more Chinese customers.”

The new MCC wholesale store offers 9,800 food and 8,000 non-food articles on 7,100-square-meter selling space. Located in the Yuhang district of the city, the store is open from 7 am to 9 pm to for the convenience of local professional customers. 

Affluent, culture-rich and a tourist hub, the city of Hangzhou is situated about 1.5 hours’ drive south of Shanghai. “Hangzhou’s booming economy and favorable location provide us with enormous potential for the 2nd wholesale store. Our operation in the city will contribute to the local community as well”, added the store manager Zhai Jiangwei.
