MCC Russia: Opening of third wholesale store in Moscow region
Zheleznodorozhnyi, May 27, 2009 – The METRO Cash & Carry Management Board as well as authorities from the Moscow region and Zheleznodoroznyi town took part in the opening ceremony. The store will be opened for its first customers on May 28, 2009.

“The Moscow region traditionally shows one of the most impressive economy growths in Russia, a highly developed level of small and medium scaled enterprises what means a huge potential for our wholesale business,” said Akin Bayer, Managing Director of METRO Cash & Carry Russia. “By expanding of our presence in Moscow region we are convinced that our investment in the third METRO Cash & Carry store here will not only give the additional impetus to the further economic development of the region, but will provide the small and medium scale businesses of Zheleznodorozhnyi with reliable and professional partner for their daily operation.”

With opening of the third METRO Cash & Carry store in the region suppliers will gain the opportunity to enlarge the selling of their products on regional, national or even international level. In the times of financial instability this gives a significant boost to strengthen the local economy. Moreover, METRO Cash & Carry creates 100 new jobs in Zheleznodorozhnyi, acts as major and reliable tax payer and is considering getting involved in several CSR projects within the town.
