METRO Cash & Carry Romania opens new distribution center in Deva

Romania / Deva - November 12, 2008 – METRO Cash & Carry Romania continues its successful expansion process by opening the 24th wholesale store, in Deva. The new outlet has a sales floor of over 8700 sqm and offers 17,500 food and non-food products for professional customers.

The expansion to other towns of the country, for instance to Deva, proves that METRO Cash & Carry has confidence in the local market and its professional customers. The vast economic potential of the Deva–Hunedoara–Simeria conurbation was a conclusive argument for the selection of the new location.

On a total sales floor of over 8,700 sqm, the new METRO Cash & Carry store in Deva offers its professional customers a range of 17,500 food and non-food products, together with highly professional services. Moreover, the outlet has 350 free parking places and modern trade equipment complying with the latest European layout and selling goods standards. On average a new METRO Cash & Carry store is an investment of about 20 million EURO. By its investment in Deva, METRO Cash & Carry creates 226 new jobs for the cities population. 

The METRO Cash & Carry Romania strategy for 2008 includes both, the continuation of the consolidation process by refurbishing three other distribution centers, and the relaunch of expansion by opening the METRO Cash & Carry store in Deva.
