METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam supports training programs for Lam Dong’s vegetable production

Lam Dong (Vietnam) – METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam, on 21st June 2006 has started its training programs for the province’s vegetable production. Lam Dong, a province in the Lang Biang Highland, is the biggest vegetable production area of Vietnam. The province has 32.000 hectares of vegetable planting with the annual volume from 100.000 to 140.000 tons. The vegetable products of Lam Dong, which are well known as Dalat vegetable, are rich in species, excellent in quality but are still facing difficulties in controlling shrinkage and in finding stable consumption markets.

To further strengthen its fruit & vegetable supply chain in this region, METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam supports and cooperates with the department of agriculture of Lam Dong province to develop training programs for the vegetable farmers, producers and enterprises there. The training topics are to provide the members of the vegetable production and supply chains the knowledge on development trends of the agricultural sector during the WTO integration, vegetable good agricultural practices (GAP) as well as to provide them the knowledge on an appropriate and efficient supply chain for Lam Dong vegetable. Post harvesting storage technologies for vegetable are also the key topic of these trainings.
