METRO Cash & Carry Russia lays corner stone for the first store in Ivanovo

Ivanovo, February 6, 2008 – Today, the management of METRO Cash & Carry Russia layed the corner stone for the first store in Ivanovo together with the local government. 

The new METRO Cash & Carry store in Ivanovo – with a population of nearly half a million people the biggest city in the region northeast of Moscow – will feature a total sales floor of 6,500 square meters and up to 300 free parking spaces. The service as well as the wide assortment of about 25,000 food and non-food products will be tailored to the needs of professional customers. Mainly these are hotels, restaurants and caterers as well as small and medium-sized retailers.

In total, the METRO Cash & Carry store will create 225 new jobs in Ivanovo. Moreover, local small and mid-sized businesses can benefit from Metro’s presence as the company enables them to purchase their needs on a higher quality level, in a bigger variety and to better prices. Consequently, competitiveness and the growth perspective of the local business will increase significantly. All of this will clearly contribute to the further development of the Ivanovo region.
